Mental health awareness is a critically evolving topic most often recognized during Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Mental health and well-being are ingrained in BHG Financials’ company culture and values, emphasizing working and playing hard. We understand that for our employees to perform at their best, they need to be able to step back and recharge. We provide them with with a full suite of benefits and perks to ensure they have that opportunity.
BHG Financial was founded in 2001 and has grown rapidly ever since. Today, our team is made up of over 1,500 employees from across the country. With this rapid growth, we have focused on maintaining our award-winning culture and balancing both work and private life. Add in a remote work environment, and we must continue to find new ways to support the mental health challenges that take a toll on all employees near and far.
Improving mental health is always something that BHG Financial has focused on, strongly promoting and encouraging all employees to take advantage of the resources provided. This includes employer-sponsored counseling services, on-site gyms in offices, educational webinars, activities, and more.
“Mental health impacts every single aspect of a person’s life. It affects the way one feels, behaves, and thinks. In other words, it influences the way one functions from day to day,” said Eric Castro, Co-Founder of BHG Financial. “Individuals that get the support and treatment needed to cope with mental health can flourish and live life to their full potential. Together we must break the mental health stigma that leaves so many people suffering in secret and focus on our well-being.”
One contributing factor to the deterioration of mental health is burnout, which is why we created the company-wide Wellness Weekend program. Wellness Weekends give all employees a 3-day weekend every month to connect with family, disconnect from the computer, and focus on their life outside of work.
“When we’re at work we give it our all, but we recognize the need to unplug and recharge. Wellness Weeks mean a lot to us as leaders and employees, it’s not just an extra day off, it’s an opportunity to reset, said Al-Crawford, Co-Founder, and CEO. “To get the best out of our employees, we provide them with not only the tools but also the time to help them achieve their best. Mental health is something we take very seriously; working as a single unit means we win and learn together.”
Today, our full program of benefits includes:
- 100% coverage of monthly health insurance premiums

At BHG, we believe our employees are our #1 asset and best investment; we continuously strive to achieve a strong work-life balance. We believe if you truly invest in your people, the result is a corporate culture that can’t be beaten.
